What do an ice pick, toy guns, a meat grinder, and an Asian ceramic figurine have in common? They are all likely to appear in the assemblages of Peninsula artist Gwen Waight, as she constructs narratives using the most unexpected found objects, the final stories often causing a viewer to gasp in wonder, delight, or even to feel a nudge of conscience.

What is an assemblage? How is it different from or the same as collage?
How can a group of unrelated objects tell a story? How does she make them all stick together?! Come to the next Medina County Art League meeting on Monday evening, November 24 at 7 o’clock to hear Gwen’s fascinating story of how she came to make this kind of art and why story telling is so important to her.

Gwen’s art has been shown in every possible art venue in Ohio and beyond.
She has won multiple awards and her work is widely collected. Gwen’s moto is “Stay Open,” a good reminder for all of us, whether artists or not!

From the original Picket Fence Show to the Art In The Park of today. Artists of Medina County Ohio join to promote the arts. Every summer we sponsor Art in the Park, an outdoor festival of  the arts.
