Upcoming Workshops

Vincent Matheney "Art and Technology"
TBD

Local artist Vincent Matheney has grown up having technology at his fingertips. His father was a software engineer and so his curiosity about technology grew year after year. Meanwhile, in middle school and high school, Vincent fell in love with art and design. During middle school, he studied with sculptor Virgil Villars spending a week in his studio and was taught by "Chuck" Clemmons in high school. From there he went to the University of Akron and studied commercial art. Through the years Vincent has combined his love of art, design, and technology in many ways. From creating digital art to designing dozens of websites and online media pieces, Vincent loves to be on the web and in the cloud. Vincent also created Studio Draco his own graphic and web design firm, which has been operating since 2008.

In this class, Vincent will share his experiences with technology as an artist including tips and tricks for preparing art for digital submissions, developing an artist website, social media uses in art, and creating art with digital programs. Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops, tablets, and smartphones (also a stylus of some sort for your device) and to bring a reference photo or personal subject matter to create a piece of digital art.
